Tankian says new album will take some time.

In an interview with the website Artist Direct, System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian said that he doesn't have time to make a new album with the band anytime soon.

Tankian's comments come two weeks after bassist Shavo Odadjian posted comments on Facebook saying that the band was being held back by Tankian.

Bassist says Serj Tankian is hindering System Of A Down

Tankian says: “I can’t write an album by force. It’s not a choice.” The vocalist praised his bandmates, but said that the album project takes three years, and added that he can’t take orders: “It’s not like making a pizza.”

Serj Tankian released a solo CD in 2012 and is currently also working on two side projects, one in progressive jazz and the other in symphonies. In addition, the vocalist recently unveiled a visual arts project.
