Serj Tankian , vocalist of System of a Down , released last Friday, the 17th, the first single from his new EP titled Foundations (2024, Gibson Records ). That same week, on Tuesday the 14th, Tankian released his memoir Down With The System .
This new track, whose title means "Another Fucking Day," will be part of the EP along with four other songs, which were recorded with Flying Cunts of Chaos , Tankian's backing band.
Serj commented on the project and the new song (via Stereogum ): “We’re making an EP called Foundations , which contains songs from different eras of my career. We’re starting with the release of a song called 'AF Day' which is at least 25 years old.”
“They’re from the early days of System of a Down, whom I never worked with, and [they’re] punk rock, kind of metal, heavy songs. So how do they relate to each other? I don’t know. I don’t see much of the music or lyrics relating to each other. I included them in the memoir, in terms of reflection and some explanations, but I don’t know in what other way they relate.”
