Sepultura was banned by Lebanese authorities from performing in the country.
Last week, Sepultura was banned from performing in Lebanon . Lebanese officials accused the band of "devil worship" and "insulting Christianity."
Now, the band will be live-streaming their show in Dubai as a tribute to their Lebanese fans. In a statement, the band declared:
We would like to express to our audience in Beirut our deep dissatisfaction with the situation we were subjected to by the Lebanese security office.
In our 35-year history, this was the first time we were blocked from entering a country due to a misinterpretation of our purposes and values. Our intention has always been to promote reflection, unity, and freedom of expression through music, without making any political, racial, or religious distinctions.
And to try and minimally compensate everyone who, like us, was frustrated by what happened, we would like to invite you to watch the live stream we will be doing of our next show in Dubai on May 2nd at 4 PM (Brasilia time) in honor of our Lebanese fans who couldn't attend in person.”
The show will be streamed on the band's YouTube channel.
