After surprising fans worldwide by announcing their retirement at the end of 2023, Sepultura , one of the most emblematic and influential Brazilian metal bands, is about to say goodbye to its fans with a series of unforgettable shows in São Paulo.

The farewell tour, titled Celebrating Life Through Death , promises to be a milestone in the band's career and an epic celebration of four decades of heavy and innovative music. The shows will take place at Espaço Unimed, with the dates confirmed for September 6th and 7th, 2024, which are already sold out, and an extra date on September 8th, with tickets still available for fans who wish to join this historic event.

Founded in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, Sepultura quickly stood out for its aggressive and unique sound, which challenged and redefined the limits of metal. From their early works, still with Jairo Guedz on guitar, the band released the EP Bestial Devastation (1985) and the album Morbid Visions (1986), considered landmarks within black metal. Furthermore, drummer Iggor Cavalera introduced something totally new for the time in the track "Antichrist": the blast beat, considered by many to be the starting point of this playing style, which was later disseminated worldwide.

With Jairo's departure and Andreas Kisser , the band's sound shifted towards thrash metal on Schizoprenia (1987) and remained that way until Arise (1991). The search for their own sound began to take shape on the album Chaos AD (1993). The response was a memorable tour alongside Pantera and Biohazard , culminating in two major festivals, Hollywood Rock in Brazil and the acclaimed Monsters of Rock in England.

The crucial turning point in Sepultura's trajectory came with the release of the album Roots (1996), an album that marked not only a turning point in the band's career but also cemented Sepultura's name in the history of world metal. Roots was pioneering in its deep dive into Brazilian roots, incorporating the culture of the Xavante Indians and tribal elements of Brazilian music with extreme metal, creating a unique and striking sound that resonated throughout the world, influencing countless bands.

Over the years, Sepultura has faced several lineup changes, including the departure of the Cavalera brothers, Max and Iggor, at different times. Despite these challenging transitions, the band continued to evolve and expand its musical legacy. The arrival of vocalist Derrick Green in 1998 brought a new energy and direction to the group, resulting in acclaimed releases such as Dante XXI (2006) and the more recent Quadra (2020), which featured the virtuoso drumming of Eloy Casagrande . Incidentally, the drummer recently left the band to join Slipknot Greyson Nekrutman (ex- Suicidal Tendencies was recruited , and he has been doing a great job.

Celebrating Life Through Death farewell tour not only marks the closing of a significant chapter in the band's history, but also offers fans one last chance to experience the intensity and passion that have defined Sepultura over the years. With a setlist spanning from their early hits to their most recent works, these shows promise to be a celebration of an extraordinary career.

Tickets for the extra date, September 8th, can be purchased through the website eventim.com.br. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of this memorable farewell and witness one of the biggest names in world metal in action, celebrating 40 years of an extraordinary musical journey.
