Sepultura , who inaugurated the World Stage on metal day at Rock In Rio, paid tribute to Andre Matos . The founding vocalist of Viper , Angra , and Shaman passed away in June of this year .
"A tribute to the great icon, a pioneer of Brazilian metal, Andre Matos," said Sepultura's leader, Andreas Kisser.
Matos' photo was shown on the screens and the band played the beginning of "Carry On," a big hit by Angra.
The audience chanted Andre Matos' name for a few moments. Sepultura's current drummer, Eloy Casagrande , rose to fame at the age of 16 as the drummer for Andre Matos' solo band on the albums Time To Be Free and Mentalize .
Andreas Kisser had already paid tribute to Andre Matos on his radio show and in an acoustic concert .
Sepultura took advantage of their Rock In Rio show to play the unreleased track "Isolation," which will be featured on their new album . The band also revealed the name of the new album, Quadra , whose cover was displayed during the show.
