The release of a new album stems from the band's commitment to the audience, and that's exactly what happened with Sepultura . The group, like many bands around the world, was forced to stay away from the stage with a newly released album. Quadra came out when the pandemic had just been announced, denying them the possibility of touring.
Faced with this scenario, Sepultura did what many others did: they connected on social media like never before and created digital bonds with their fans. The interaction wasn't enough, so the group created SepulQuarta , a series of weekly live streams where they hosted friends and colleagues for a chat and, of course, a jam session . Now, the project is gaining new ground, being officially released as a band album on all streaming platforms and in physical format.
“We wanted to call people we already had connections with, people we’d toured with, or artists we admire,” said Derrick Green , the band’s vocalist, in a statement released to the press.
Of the 28 songs presented in the video series, 15 were selected for the new album. The tracklist includes tracks less frequently featured in setlists , such as "Apes Of God," "Hatred Aside," and "Slaves of Pain," but also more frequent compositions like "Ratamahatta," "Sepulnation," and "Kaiowas."
“SepulQuarta was created to keep Quadra alive and to try to always stay in direct contact with the fans,” said bassist Paulo Xisto in an exclusive interview with Wikimetal . “The band has social media, the band members have their own media, and we try to interact as much as possible.”
Furthermore, through partnerships with NGOs, Sepultura helped raise funds for different causes each week. "It was fantastic work, we grew not only as musicians, but as people," Andreas Kisser in the statement.
Today, the 13th, the project arrives in its final form, which you can hear below, opening the door to new adventures for the group. With shows scheduled from November onwards in Europe, the group plans a great tour to finally promote Quadra and showcase the new songs from the stage.
And what about Sepultura's new project? After the tour, of course! "We're always writing new material, but preparing new material? No, not yet, it's not the right time," Xisto said in the interview.
