Sepultura has announced that their show at Rock in Rio 2026 will be the penultimate performance of their career. The show is scheduled for September 5th on the Palco Mundo stage and is part of their farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death.
According to an announcement on social media, the band will perform at Rock City "a unique and exclusive show, playing only songs from the era of vocalist Derrick Green, bringing the power of one of the greatest Brazilian and world metal groups."
"Sepultura bids farewell to the history of the festival with a performance that carries a unique meaning: it will be their last show at Rock in Rio and the penultimate show of their world tour, before their final performance in São Paulo," said the band.
Previously, Andreas Kisser revealed in an interview with Music Interview Cornerthat the final shows will take place by the end of 2026, marking the end of a journey that began in 1984 and has become one of the most important in the world of metal.
Although the Rock in Rio 2026 show is the penultimate one, Sepultura has not yet officially confirmed the details of the performance. However, there is an expectation that the final show will take place in São Paulo, possibly in a stadium and with special appearances by musicians who have been part of the group's history, as revealed by Andreas Kisser in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.
Rock in Rio 2026
The festival announced the full lineup for the two days dedicated to rock music.
On September 4th, Foo Fighters, The Hives, Rise Against , and Nova Twins will perform on the Palco Mundo stage. Meanwhile, on the Palco Sunset stage, the acts will be Capital Inicial, Hot Milk, Detonautas, and Di Ferrero.
On September 5th, Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, Machine Gun Kelly , and Sepultura will perform on the Palco Mundo stage. On the Palco Sunset stage, the acts are Bad Omens, Poppy, Black Pantera, Nervosa , and Day Limns.
Rock in Rio 2026 will take place at the Olympic Park between September 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th and 13th. To date, the festival has not announced the dates for general ticket sales.
