Prevent Senior employees were "forced" to sing the anthem of the owners' rock band, says lawyer.

The band Doctor Pheabes was cited in the COVID-19 Parliamentary Inquiry to exemplify the company's "ideology".

The rock band Doctor Pheabes , founded by the owners of Prevent Senior, was mentioned during lawyer Bruna Morato COVID Parliamentary Inquiry Commission regarding alleged irregularities committed by the health insurance company in the treatment of patients during the pandemic.

Heard by the parliamentary committee last Tuesday, September 28, the lawyer for the former doctors of the health plan specializing in elderly patients explained the accusations that the company forced professionals to continue with treatments without proven medical efficacy and altered the medical records of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

During the deposition, the lawyer was questioned about the role of "Guardians" within the company, who were part of a "structure of loyalty and obedience" at Prevent Senior. Supposedly used exclusively by the institution, this term was used to describe the doctors responsible for on-call physicians and earned them internal honors.

In her response, the lawyer shared a description of a common procedure at company events during 2015, 2016, and 2017, when the organization played its own anthem called the "Guardians' Anthem." According to the accounts, employees were "required" to sing the lyrics of the anthem with their hand on their chest, just as one does when singing official national anthems.

“Prevent Senior has a rather different policy,” the lawyer began. “At some events, [the company] promoted a hymn, which was the 'Hymn of the Guardians,' and these doctors were required to sing this hymn with their hand on their chest. I would like to ask the doctors who assist me, if any of them have this hymn, I would very much like to bring it to the attention of the parliamentary committee.”

The content of the lyrics is not yet public knowledge, but the commission considered it relevant to the investigations. “There was a national anthem, and they were required to sing it with their hand on their chest. It's also important to note that the owners of the institution, Mr. Fernando Parrillo and Mr. Eduardo Parrillo , have a rock band, a very well-known band that has even participated in the Rock in Rio event. So they played the anthem, and the doctors had to sing that same anthem with their hand on their chest. (…) I believe this is very important for understanding the company's ideology,” Bruna concluded.

Known artistically as Eduardo Parras and Fernando “Magrão ”, the Parrillo brothers founded Doctor Pheabes in the 1980s, but the group only officially began its activities in 2009.

According to an interview given to G1 , the band's first career show was at a Prevent Senior party. "Nobody kicked us out. Obviously, nobody was going to massacre us (laughs)," commented Fernando about the reception from the employees and friends present.

Eduardo is also the vocalist for the power metal band Armored Dawn , but the group was not mentioned in the investigations. Alongside Doctor Pheabes, the bands are regulars at major rock and metal shows and festivals sponsored by Prevent Senior in Brazil.
