Sebastian Bach confirmed the reason for changing a homophobic lyric in Skid Row live performances, something the vocalist had been doing for several years, but only recently commented publicly on the decision.

The lyrics in question are from the song "Sweet Little Sister," part of the band's debut album. The homophobic part says that "her friend is serving time for kicking a faggot's ass.".

According to Ultimate Classic Rock , the new lyrics used by Bach in concerts changed the line to "her friend is serving time for spilling a beer," replacing "queer" with "beer."

The decision was praised by the audience, with a longtime gay fan thanking the musician. “Thank you for changing the lyrics to SLS. Words matter! You rock,” wrote a follower who noticed the change at a recent show.

Another person agreed with the singer's stance. "[When we realized], my sister and I greeted each other. I was proud to see and hear that. You're right. Words matter. Thank you, Sebastian," they posted.

"That's so cool, thanks for letting me know, I'm glad you liked it. I can't sing words I don't believe in, there are other changes made as well," Bach replied.

Despite having been photographed in 1990 wearing a homophobic t-shirt associating AIDS with the deaths of homosexual people, Sebastian Bach seems to have become a true ally of the LGBTQ+ community in recent years. The singer even abandoned an interview after a homophobic comment directed at his friend Rob Halford , vocalist of Judas Priest .
