According to the BBC, Scottish actor Sean Connery , immortalized as the first, and according to many, the true spy James Bond, died at the age of 90 this morning, the 31st.
The actor's family reported that he died in his sleep in the Bahamas.
In addition to playing the spy 007 seven times, Connery had over 90 roles in a career spanning more than 50 years and became very famous for iconic roles in films such as "Highlander," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," "The Untouchables," and "The Name of the Rose."
This last one, based on the novel by Umberto Eco , inspired Steve Harris to write the epic "Sign of the Cross," a track of over 11 minutes, which is part of the 1995 The X Factor
The song, originally sung by Blaze Bailey , also featured prominently in the 2001 Rock In Rio with Bruce Dickinson on vocals.
The film starring Sean Connery was released in 1986, where he plays the character William of Baskerville .
Brian De Palma 's "The Untouchables ," Sean Connery won the Oscar in 1988 for Best Supporting Actor.
