After 28 years, Scream Dave Grohl 's former band , is preparing to release their new album, called DC Special . This is the band's sixth album and their first since 1993.
To finance the project, Scream is asking for help from fans via a Kickstarter , which will begin on September 8th. The new album will be recorded at Inner Ear in Washington, and will be one of the last works to be done at the venue, which will close its doors at the end of September.
The album's name, DC Special , is a tribute to the city of Washington, D.C., and to Inner Ear Studios , which was the epicenter of the region's hardcore sound, with bands like Minor Threat , Bad Brains , and Fugazi . "There have never been so many reasons to scream as there are now," said guitarist Franz Stahl .
Dave Grohl's involvement with Scream happened in 1986, before Nirvana , when the original drummer – and current band member – Stax , left the group.
