Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian addressed his criticisms of digital platforms in an interview with Alternative Press. The musician retracted his criticisms of streaming services :
“I was against it until I understood how things really work with things like Spotify. I was criticizing it out of ignorance two years ago. And then I learned how things are working specifically for us. I don't know how it works for every band, but I educated myself and learned to accept Spotify after that.”
Ian didn't hold back in his praise for Spotify:
“I see it this way: as long as the bands are being paid for what they do, I don’t care how people receive the music. It doesn’t matter to me how you want to enjoy it. At home, now, we always have music on. If we’re awake, music is playing, and it’s usually Spotify on the sound system, and we have the system in every room. And it’s Spotify, so you can listen to whatever you want whenever you want, because it has everything. It’s amazing! My God! It’s the best thing ever.”.
