In an interview with Metal Hammer, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian spoke about the current political climate, with Donald Trump as president of the United States. Ian said that the climate will be productive for heavy music:
"I think there's going to be a lot of good heavy music coming out in the next four years."
Political unease is great for art. The Big Four emerged from the Reagan era in the US. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal emerged from the Thatcher era, if I'm not mistaken. So Trump and the political climate in the world today will definitely be great for heavy music.
There are many creative bands, and the scene is strong and healthy. Will there be another Maiden or Metallica? Maybe not in our lifetime, but I remember people having this conversation 10 years ago, and in those 10 years a lot of good bands have emerged. I think we'll be fine.”
