Recently, Scott Ian of Anthrax participated in the podcast No Fuckin' Regrets , hosted by Robb Flynn of Machine Head, where he expressed his opinion on the 'Big Four' of metal becoming the 'Big Five'.
According to Ian, the lineup consisting of Anthrax , Metallica , Megadeth and Slayer should include a fifth band: Exodus . The Anthrax co-founder was firm in saying that despite it being "a silly thing," he "truly believes" the number should be officially changed, and stated that Bonded By Blood is "the best debut album among the five of us."
“Someone who has the power, someone who’s like the mayor of heavy metal – maybe Lars [ Ulrich ] needs a call – and he can decree that the Big Four needs to officially be changed to Big Five because it’s always bothered me that Exodus doesn’t get the representation and credit they deserve,” said Ian.
“In my opinion, if you really look at the bands that were there from the beginning, Bonded By Blood was released way before Killing Is My Business [by Metallica]. Dave [ Mustaine ] was in Metallica, but Kirk [ Hammett ] was in Exodus before joining Metallica. Seriously!”
Recently, Wikimetal attended a press conference with Gary Holt where the guitarist spoke about Exodus' new album, Persona Non Grata , and commented on the band's future.
