The band announced that they will use the guitar they gifted to the festival's creator

Matthias Jabs, guitarist for the Scorpions, will use the same instrument at Rock in Rio 2019 that he used at the first edition of the festival, according to information from columnist Anselmo Góis in the newspaper O Globo.

The guitar used in 1985 was a gift to the creator and organizer of Rock in Rio, Roberto Medina. "The German band Scorpions will perform at Rock in Rio on October 4th, 34 years after their first appearance at the festival," the text says.

"In fact, in the 1985 edition, guitarist Matthias Jabs gifted Medina with this guitar in the photo, whose design pays homage to the logo of that first edition, as well as Brazilian flags. Now, the band has asked Medina to play a song using the same guitar, which is being restored by the renowned luthier António Pinto Carvalho."
