Scorpions postpone new album to celebrate 60 years of career in 2025 with a world tour. The band opted to put aside the studio, at least for now, and prioritize a series of performances in homage to their trajectory in rock.
“We’re so busy touring that you need the right time to get together in the studio and create new music,” said Klaus Meine . “Now is not that time. Maybe we can release one or two songs, but not an album like Rock Believer ,” the vocalist added.
During an interview with Colombian radio station Radioacktiva ( transcribed via Blabbermouth ), it became clear why Scorpions are postponing a new album to focus entirely on the anniversary tour. Vocalist Klaus Meine and guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs explained that the current focus is not on the successor to Rock Believer (2022), but rather on being close to their audience through a series of performances around the world.
Global tour celebrates legacy and brings the band closer to its fans.
“Creating new music requires time and dedication in the studio. Right now, our hearts are on stage, not on recording,” Meine explained. Still, he didn't completely rule out the possibility of composing something new. “Maybe one or two tracks will appear along the way.”
Rudolf Schenker was more direct and humorous. “It would be a waste to spend our 60 years locked in a studio. We want to celebrate, to enjoy this connection with the public. Rock is alive, and so are we.”
Although a new album isn't in the immediate plans, Meine highlighted in another interview, this time with the Scorpions Brazil , that there's enthusiasm for the idea of returning to the studio in the future. He mentioned the partnership with engineer and co-producer Hans-Martin Buff, a specialist in 3D productions and Grammy winner for his work with Peter Gabriel . “Recording is always enjoyable, and we have an excellent team by our side. But, nowadays, perhaps the logic isn't to release complete albums anymore. A handful of good songs can have more impact than an entire album.”
The album Rock Believer , released in 2022, was recorded in Germany after plans to work in the United States with producer Greg Fidelman, known for collaborations with Metallica and Slipknot , fell through. The pandemic ultimately pushed the band towards a home production, with Buff taking a central role in the process.
Until new sounds arrive, fans can look forward to a nostalgic world tour, full of classics and the unmistakable energy that made Scorpions one of the greatest bands in hard rock history.
After a forced hiatus due to Klaus Meine's health problems, Scorpions resume their tour celebrating 60 years on stage.
Recently, Scorpions had to postpone some performances due to a respiratory infection suffered by vocalist Klaus Meine. However, the band has already returned to the stage with a show in Mexico to continue their celebratory tour, which has already included a stop in Brazil.
