Scorpions is certainly on the soundtrack of many couples in love. Known for ballads like "Still Loving You" and "You and I," the German hard rock band is part of the romances of fans from different generations, but few have had the privilege of having their love story personally blessed by their idols, as happened with Brazilian fans Isabela Wagner and David Araujo .
Dating for almost nine years, the couple had a trip planned to attend the six dates of the Scorpions' tour in Germany in June, but the dates were postponed to 2023 and the plan for the perfect surprise, carefully crafted by David, was almost ruined. So, they both went to see the band's show at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, and managed to meet all the members on June 17th.
With the band having performed at numerous shows throughout their history, this one will certainly be among the most memorable: with the help of Roberta Forster , also from the Scorpions Brazil fan club, it was possible to advance the superfan's plans with Klaus Meine and finalize the details with the other members, who came to greet the Brazilians before the show.
Up until that moment, Bela believed she was there for a meet and greet with the band, and drummer Mikkey Dee almost ruined the surprise by mentioning marriage as soon as he arrived, but everything went well: David gave a speech about how the band brought them together, knelt down, and received a positive response. “What did she say? I didn’t hear!” joked Dee, to which Bela repeated: “Yes!”
A fan love story began because of the Scorpions.
Long before Bela said "Yes," Scorpions was the cupid that brought the couple together, despite the geographical distance. Even before David got involved with the band's fan clubs, currently being part of the administration of the websites Scorpions News and Scorpions Brazil , as well as the author of the book The Other Side of the Show – My Story with Scorpions , in which he narrates a life dedicated to the Germans, luck (and musical taste) favored their meeting.
In 2011, he bought a Korean version of the album Comeblack (2011) and received a comment from a stranger on a social media post about the collector's item. "This CD is really good!", wrote Isabela Wager in the post, which led to a virtual friendship and, two years later, the beginning of a relationship.
“At first we didn’t talk that much, it was just that. But, the following year, we met again on Twitter and were part of the same group on the dearly missed MSN. (…) The conversations grew, moving to private messages, and the rest is history! In other words, indirectly, I met my girlfriend also because of Scorpions. Yes, even in that,” Araujo wrote in the book.
