Scorpions cancelled three shows on their 60th anniversary tour in Latin America after lead singer Klaus Meine was diagnosed with a virus that caused a respiratory infection.

Initially, the band cancelled a single show, scheduled for April 26th at Tecnopolis in Buenos Aires . Then, a second show was cancelled at the Masters of Rock festival in Bogotá, Colombia, scheduled for April 30th.

Now, a third show scheduled for last Saturday, May 3rd, at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito, Ecuador, has been canceled.

In an announcement on social media , the German band explained that Klaus Meine, 76, contracted a virus and was diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis, making it impossible for him to sing.

"It is with regret that we inform you that Scorpions will not be able to perform in Quito tonight, May 3rd. Klaus has not yet recovered from the virus that led to Scorpions' recent cancellations in Buenos Aires and Bogotá and has been diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis, which unfortunately prevents him from singing."

The band sends its deepest apologies to all its loyal fans in Ecuador and is once again extremely disappointed that it will not be able to play in one of its favorite countries.

They will make every effort to return to Ecuador and South America in the future.”

The Scorpions have two remaining shows on their Latin American tour. May 6th at the San Marcos National Fair in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and May 8th at the Puebla Fair in Puebla, Mexico.
