Herman Rarebell , former drummer of the Scorpions , gave an interview to the channel Talking The Talk With Don and spoke about a possible reunion with his bandmates: [transcription via blabbermouth ]: “I wrote them an email. I said, 'Why don't we do something together again?' And you know what? I didn't even get a reply. After 20 years with those sons of bitches, not a single reply. I said, 'Okay, fuck it. Great.'”
The drummer continued: “The chemistry we had was unique. And if you ruin that, it’s going to be hard to replace. And the people out there, the fans, they’re not stupid. They can hear that immediately. They’ve written me so many emails: ‘What happened?’ I don’t want to explain all the time. Everyone can do what they want in life. That’s why we have free will. And so I respect that.”
Speaking about the current state of Scorpions, Rarebell said: “For me, the band ended in 1996. There wasn’t anything they released after I left that impressed me, where I said, ‘Wow, this is amazing.’ Really after ‘Wind Of Change,’ you could see the direction. Klaus [ Meine ] was obviously in favor of going in that direction, but in my heart, I’m still a hard rock guy.”
Herman Rarebell left the Scorpions due to creative differences and Klaus Meine's insistence on focusing on ballads. The drummer was a member of the band between 1977 and 1996 – the period of their most successful albums – composing classics such as "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Blackout," "Make It Real," "Arizona," "Bad Boys Running Wild," and "Tease Me Please Me."
