This Friday, the 10th, Saxon announced in a press release that Paul Quinn, the group's original guitarist, will be stepping away from the tour.
According to the statement, he will not be leaving the band, only taking a break from performing live. The group has already announced that they will find a replacement for Quinn, but they have still cancelled their trip to Brazil, which included a performance at Monsters of Rock in April.
“After much thought, our great friend and fellow warrior Paul Quinn has decided to step away from touring with Saxon. After many years on the road, with the stress and fatigue that come with long touring schedules, Paul doesn't want his performance to suffer and disappoint his bandmates and fans.”
The band continued: “Paul will continue to record with the band and may do some special shows in the future. Saxon supports Paul’s decision and will keep you all informed about our next steps.”
“The current series of shows in Europe in March will continue as is, but the band will cancel its April dates in South America and the Monsters of Rock Cruise to allow time to regroup. These venues will be rescheduled as soon as time permits. All summer festivals will continue as scheduled. Have faith!”
