In an interview with the French podcast Last Ride, Biff Byford, vocalist of Saxon, revealed the release date of the band's highly anticipated 25th studio album. According to him, the album will be released on January 22, 2027, a Friday.
Asked about the current status of the recordings, which are already finished, Biff stated that he "couldn't say anything," but assured that the first single and pre-orders for the new work will be available starting in September.
“I can’t tell you anything about that. What we can tell you, however — [and this is] exclusive — is that the album will be released on [Friday] January 22 [2027]. Nobody knows this. You’re the first person [we’ve told]. And you’ll be able to pre-order the album in September. And the first single, I think, will also be released on a seven-inch vinyl in September as well,” he said [transcription via Blabbermouth].
Last October, the Saxon vocalist completed treatment for bowel cancer
Last October, in a post on Saxon's social media , Byford said that his chemotherapy treatment was complete and that he would be getting back in shape so he could return to the stage soon. Due to the musician's treatment, his band had to cancel a series of dates in Europe.
“Hi, Biff here! I just finished chemotherapy and now I’m going to focus on getting fit, cycling and recording vocals for the new album. We’re rehearsing for the UK tour, which starts in Belfast in early November. We’ll be playing the complete Wheels of Steel in the set, along with other songs. Udo Dirkschneider will be playing Accept ’s Balls to the Wall and Tygers of Pan Tang will have a special setlist in Newcastle. We also have a new band called Untamed Silence opening for us in Manchester and Sheffield. It’s going to be a great tour, with some tickets still available, so just grab yours and see us there. Peace and quiet,” he said at the time [transcription via Blabbermouth ].
In September 2019, Biff suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency triple bypass surgery. In August 2024, he underwent another surgery to treat atrial flutter, a type of heart rhythm abnormality, or arrhythmia, that causes the upper chambers of the heart (atria) to beat too fast.
