The English band Saxon has released the video for “Fire and Steel”, a track from their latest album, Hell, Fire and Damnation (2024).
The music video was directed, produced, and edited by Paul Michael Green , CEO of Borderline Hollywood.
Regarding the song, Biff Byford , vocalist of the English heavy metal band, says that the title was originally going to be "Fire and Steam" and that the arrangements themselves were more similar to thrash metal than classic heavy metal.
Byford also recounts that he had an epiphany about the music: "suddenly, I thought the title 'Fire And Steel' was better," changing the previously considered storyline to one set in Sheffield, a place where the members of Saxon used to go to watch various bands at Sheffield City Hall ( via Blabbermouth ).
Hell, Fire and Damnation : the last album?
Saxon's latest album, released in January of this year, is the band's twenty-fourth studio album. The work propelled the band to the top 19 of the UK Albums Chart and the top 4 in countries such as Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
Featuring co-production, mixing, and mastering by the brilliant Andy Sneap ( Judas Priest, Exodus ), the album tackles the typical epic narrative between good and evil – or, more accurately, Heaven and Hell.
Since last year, when guitarist Paul Quinn announced he was leaving the band's tour , canceling their South American leg and their participation in Monsters Of Rock , fans have been speculating about the band's future retirement.
However, this is something that Saxon demonstrates they are far from doing, showing their audience that the band is still alive and well, with no plans to rest, already anticipating the Hell, Fire and Damnation for 2025 with Brian Tatler ( Diamond Head ) replacing them on guitar.
