The song celebrates the 80s and their friendship

Saxon has released the lyric video for the track "They Played Rock And Roll," written for their colleagues in Motörhead.

The track is a tribute to the tour that Saxon and Motörhead did together in 1979 and is part of the new album Thunderbolt.

“It’s about the 80s. It’s about the Bomber and Ace Of Spades tours. That’s when we met. It’s about that, and the album No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith and the whole 80s scene that followed,” says vocalist Peter Byford.

Scheduled for release on February 2nd by Militia Guard/Silver Lining Music, Thunderbolt will feature twelve songs, and its title track already has a music video.
