Sammy Hagar was about to embark on a tour in Brazil with the group The Circle to present the album Space Between, however the South American tour was canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The shows were scheduled to take place on March 16th in Ribeirão Preto, March 18th in Rio de Janeiro, March 20th in Porto Alegre, and March 22nd in São Paulo. This would have been the first Brazilian tour for the former Van Halen .
Information regarding ticket refunds will be released soon.
With the goal of giving special attention to the fans, Sammy Hagar himself recorded a statement which can be seen below.
In the video, Hagar explains that no one is more disappointed than he and the band:
"I've never played in South America!!! I really want to."
After discussing the importance of prioritizing everyone's health above all else, the vocalist assured: "As soon as this whole virus thing improves, we'll be there."
Also in the video, Sammy Hagar said about South American fans:
“Every year at our Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash , there are dozens of South American fans with flags from Brazil and Argentina, and nobody has as much fun as these fans. Even after the event is over, I run into them in the parking lot and they're still partying. I really want to play for this crowd.”
