Sam Rivers , bassist and co-founder of Limp Bizkit , died this Saturday, October 18th, at the age of 48. The cause of death has not been revealed.

The band issued a statement via social media:

"Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heart. Sam Rivers wasn't just our bassist—he was pure magic. The pulse behind every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound. From the first note we played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was natural, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous."

“We shared so many moments — wild, peaceful, beautiful — and each one meant more because Sam was there,” continued LIMP BIZKIT. “He was a unique human being. A true legend among legends. And his spirit will live on forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.”

“We love you, Sam . We will carry you with us, always. Rest in peace, brother. Your music never ends,” concluded the post, signed by Durst , drummer John Otto , guitarist Wes Borland , and turntable DJ Lethal .

Sam Rivers left the band in 2015 after being diagnosed with a degenerative disease, but returned in 2018. Years later, Sam stated that his departure was due to liver disease caused by excessive alcohol consumption, and he underwent a liver transplant.

Currently, Limp Bizkit has only one show scheduled in Brazil in 2025. The tour, which has already covered the United States and Europe, will arrive at Allianz Parque in São Paulo on December 20th. Other names included in the lineup are: YUNGBLUD, 311, Ecca Vandal, Riff Raff , and Slay Squad .
