Sabaton released two singles this Friday, the 25th: “The Duelist” and “Lightning at the Gates”. The singles will be part of the Swedish band's 11th studio album, Legends , scheduled for release on October 17th by Better Noise Music – the band's first album on the label.
As the title itself suggests, Legends blends rock and history for listeners of all ages. The album delves into the lives of some of humanity's most iconic figures, such as Joan of Arc, Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar , and the Japanese sword master Miyamoto Musashi .
This is the first time all band members have come together to contribute to the songwriting process. This is SABATON as you've never heard them before: relentless and unbridled. Legends is a global journey through the annals of war, leadership, and unwavering will.
“We can finally announce that our 11th studio album, Legends, arrives on October 17th!”, says bassist Pär Sundström . “11 tracks covering 11 legendary and iconic stories. This time we look further back in history than we have in recent years, going to eras that I find very exciting. As someone who has always enjoyed the history of the Middle Ages, knights, and ancient legends, I found it incredible to finally bring these stories into the Sabaton universe.”
“Music collectors will be happy to know that it’s now possible to pre-order our album Legends in every imaginable format, including digital, CD, vinyl, and a cassette tape that will be included in a special box set,” adds vocalist Joakim Brodén . “In addition to the usual versions, there are several incredible editions available, and we have a bunch of beautiful vinyl records, each corresponding to a legend.”
Pär Sundström continues: “Our essence is to tell stories through our music, so we thought: why not do the same with our vinyl records? Instead of just giving them a pretty color, we wanted them to tell a story as well. That's why we decided to name them after the legendary figures that appear on the album. We found it to be the perfect way to make them more special. We hope all collectors of physical music will like the concept. We took the idea from the community and adapted it to our own way.”
Sabaton has always had a distinctive approach to writing songs about historical battles, wars, and acts of heroism that have cemented their impact with their loyal and veteran fans. The band collaborated closely with their network of experts, developed over the years since the launch of the Sabaton History Channel on YouTube, to ensure that this new album is, once again, as true to reality as possible.
