Sabaton released “Defense of Moscow,” a single that tells the story of World War II and celebrates the defeat of the Nazi army at the hands of the Soviet Union.
The song is a cover of the Russian artist Radio Tapok and is a tribute to the armed forces of the then Soviet Union, which defeated the Nazi army on May 9, 1945. “It’s a very powerful song and we thought it made sense for Sabaton to try and do a dignified cover of it,” said the band’s bassist, Pär Sundström . “We love to surprise everyone and this is a big surprise.”
“Defense of Moscow” is written from the perspective of the Soviet Union, which at the time was led by dictator Joseph Stalin. This new track is the second released by the band in 2021, following “The Royal Guard ,” but there is no information yet on whether these releases will be part of a studio album.
