Lifeson talks about suffering from arthritis
In an article in Classic Rock, Rush revealed that illnesses may prevent Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart from remaining active for much longer. Lifeson, who suffers from arthritis, said that the pain is getting worse every day: "I've had the disease for 10 years, but this is the first time I'm feeling it in my feet and hands."
Geddy Lee commented: “For Alex, arthritis isn’t easy. If there’s one thing that’s going to make us stop touring, it’s Alex’s arthritis. Because it directly affects the way he plays. If I had to go on stage and wasn’t able to play my best, or the way I’ve played in the past, I’d never want to play. I wouldn’t want to be a shadow of myself.”
Lifeson says, however, that Neil Peart's tendinitis in his arm is even worse: "It's harder for Neil. To be honest, I don't know how he manages to play the way he plays, feeling discomfort and pain .
Rush's current tour celebrates the band's 40-year career.
