Rush finally returned to the stage after 11 years. The legendary Canadian band performed their first show of the Fifty Something tour last Sunday, the 7th, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles .
Right at the start of the show, vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee highlighted that the reunion has two main objectives: “We’re here to celebrate over 50 years of music that Alex Lifeson, myself, and the great Neil Peart [drummer who died in 2020] made together. We’re here to honor Neil” [via Ultimate Classic Rock].
The reunion brings together Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson, accompanied by drummer Anika Niles.The musician has taken on the mission of filling Peart's position during the band's new phase.
The tour kicked off with "Xanadu," chosen for the first time as the opening song for a Rush show. The setlist spanned different phases of the trio's career and included hits such as "Limelight," "Freewill," "Subdivisions," "Tom Sawyer," "YYZ," and "Working Man.".
One of the most emotional moments of the night occurred during the song "Bravado," when images of Neil Peart were displayed on the screens along with archival recordings of the musician. Another highlight was the special appearance of Aimee Mann in "Time Stand Still." Although the song was released in 1987, this was the first time the singer performed it live alongside Rush.
Rush in Brazil
Rush will also be touring Brazil with tour Fifty Somethingreunion in January and February 2027.
The band will be performing in Curitiba (Arena da Baixada, January 22nd), São Paulo (Allianz Parque, January 24th and 26th), Rio de Janeiro (Estádio Nilton Santos, January 30th), Belo Horizonte (Estádio Mineirão, February 1st), and Brasília (Arena BRB Mané Garrincha, February 4th).
