Rush donates over 100,000 reais to cancer cure research.

The money went towards research against brain cancer.

Rush has just announced a donation of 40,000 Canadian dollars (approximately R$ 100,000) to the Gord Downie Foundation, which researches cures for brain cancer, directing the money the band would receive from the "Allan Slaight" award in April 2017 towards humanitarian causes.

"We are pleased to direct this generous donation from the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Award to the Gord Downie Foundation," says the band's official statement.

Downie is the lead singer of the Canadian band Tragically Hip, and he revealed in May of this year that he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

“Many Canadian families have been directly or indirectly affected by this terrible disease. Through Gord’s courageous efforts, this disease is now receiving the attention it deserves. As fellow musicians and friends, it’s now our turn to help in this fight against brain cancer ,” Rush added.
