Heart and Randy Newman are also inducted into the Hall of Fame

Rush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night at a ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

The band was called to the stage after a speech by Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, who emphasized the band's path to success: "Without advertising campaigns, without nonsense, they built a career from the bottom up without the help of mainstream media. Their influence is undeniable," said Grohl.

Neil Peart was the first to give the speech: "For a long time we've been saying that this wasn't very important... But in fact, it is!"

Geddy Lee thanked the band's fans, saying that they are responsible for putting them in the Hall of Fame.

At the ceremony, Heart was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, presented by Chris Cornell.
