Rush announces reunion tour for 2026 with new drummer.

The tour celebrates the band's 50th anniversary and will be dedicated to the memory of the late drummer Neil Peart.

Rush officially announced this Monday, the 6th, a reunion tour in 2026. In addition to founding members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson , the band also announced new drummer Anika Nilles .

The tour celebrates the band's 50th anniversary and will be dedicated to the memory of the late drummer Neil Peart . The first show will take place on June 7th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and will include stops in Mexico, Texas, Illinois, New York, Ontario, and Ohio.

In an official statement on Rush's website , Geddy Lee commented on the new lineup:

“It’s been over 10 years since Alex and I played Rush songs alongside our late bandmate and friend Neil. A lifetime of music into which we poured our accumulated hearts and souls, writing, recording, and playing together on stage. And then, after everything that’s happened since the last show, Alex and I did some serious introspection and came to the conclusion that we miss it terribly and that it’s time for a celebration of Rush’s 50-plus years of music. So, in 2026, my best friend Lerxst (also known as Alex Lifeson) and I will hit the road once again to pay homage to our past and to Neil, playing a vast selection of Rush songs in a few cities. It’s not an easy task, because, as we all know, Neil was irreplaceable.”

Regarding the new drummer, Geddy Lee added:

“But life is full of surprises, and we were introduced to another extraordinary person. An incredible drummer and musician who is adding another chapter to our story as she continues her fascinating musical journey. Her name is Anika Nilles, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce her to our loyal and dedicated Rush fanbase, who we know will give her every chance to rise to this almost impossible role.”

“Before we take the stage, we also hope to add one or two more musicians to expand our sound a bit and give Alex and me more freedom to showcase some of our new and sophisticated dance moves. Lerxst, Anika, and I, along with many of our long-time crew members, have been working hard rehearsing and designing the kind of Rush show you’ve come to expect from us. We sincerely hope you’ll come and help us celebrate our history together,” he concluded.

What Neil Peart's family says about the band's return.

Carrie Nuttall-Peart , daughter, and Olivia Peart , Neil Peart's widow, comment on the Rush reunion:

“We are delighted to support the Fifty Something tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated with and inspired fans for generations, and to honor Neil’s extraordinary legacy as a drummer and lyricist.”

Neil's musicality was unique. Compositions of complexity and power that expanded what rhythm itself could express. As a drummer and lyricist, he was irreplaceable. Inimitable in his artistry and unparalleled in the depth and imagination he brought to the lyrics that inspired and moved so many people. He profoundly shaped how fans connected with him and the band, giving voice and meaning to their own lives. The band enters this new chapter, which promises to be truly unforgettable. We look forward to seeing how their new vision unfolds and to hearing this legendary music played live once again.

Anika Nilles, 42, is a German jazz/fusion/prog drummer and composer, former drummer for Jeff Beck , who began her career on YouTube in the 2010s. In addition to being a musician, Nilles also teaches drums, including at Drumeo.
