Finnish heavy metal band Rough Grind brought an important theme to close out Hardened , their second album, released on January 28th. In the ballad "Last Thing You'll Ever Hear," the group presents a sound different from their other songs to raise public awareness about the importance of combating gun violence.
Although it is a problem that receives more media attention in North America, due to the tragic cases of school shootings, this is a matter of global relevance and should also be discussed in our country.
“We all have to do our part to keep our communities safe from gun violence. This has become a global problem and governments aren’t doing enough about it,” commented the band, which is among Wikimetal ’s discoveries on Groover .
According to data from Amnesty International , gun violence primarily affects social minorities, with women and Black people among the main victims. The organization also points out that 72% of homicides in Brazil are related to the use of firearms, thus advocating for the importance of strict regulations for the possession and carrying of weapons.
Founded in 2011, Rough Grind's discography already includes 3 EPs – Son of a Gun (2014), Four for the Road (2017) and Trouble or Nothing (2018) – and their debut album Pieces of Resistance , released in 2020.
