The first fully authorized documentary about Ronnie James Dio will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

The film Dio: Dreamers Never Die tells the story of Dio's life and career, from his early days in Rainbow Ozzy Osbourne 's place in Black Sabbath , and then becoming a rock legend. The film's description states that Dio's biography "avoids the tired clichés of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. The film is about perseverance, dreams and the power of believing in yourself."

Recently, Ronnie's widow, Wendy Dio , said she watched the documentary and was very moved to see her husband's life portrayed on screen from beginning to end. Special appearances include Lita Ford , Jack Black , Rob Halford , and Eddie Trunk .

The SXSW festival will have its first in-person screening since the start of the pandemic in 2020. The documentary Dio: Dreamers Never Die will be shown at the Paramount Theatre on March 17th at 4 PM (local time) and online only on March 18th at 9 AM (local time).
