The Rolling Stones released the single “Rough & Twisted” only on vinyl, under the pseudonym The Cockroaches – a name previously used by Mick Jagger and company. The move was discreet, without any presence on digital platforms.
The release was part of a secret campaign. Last week, a promotional video appeared on an Instagram profile called “thecockroaches2026”. The caption, “64 and counting,” alluded to the band's years on the road since its formation.
The band had already teased the public with clues and references to the fictional name, using a QR code that directed fans to a new website, copyrighted by The Rolling Stones' record label, Universal Music.
The EP was released last Saturday in an extremely limited edition of one thousand copies, distributed in select stores. Now, a full version of “Rough & Twisted” has been made available online.
“Rough & Twisted” maintains the classic essence of the group. The single is the first taste of the new album, still untitled, scheduled for release in July. It will be the band's first full-length album since Hackney Diamonds (2023).
