The Rolling Stones have compiled songs by their blues idols on a new album.

“Rollin' Stone”, the song that inspired the band's name, will be the first track on the album.

The Rolling Stones have selected their favorite blues songs for the album Confessin' The Blues , which will be released on November 9th by BMG as a double album.

The album will feature 42 tracks from artists such as Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, BB King, John Lee Hooker, and Muddy Waters – who opens the album with "Rollin' Stone," the song that inspired the band's name – all of whom, in some way, influenced the British group, especially at the beginning of their career.

The artwork for Confessin' The Blues is by guitarist Ronnie Wood , and a portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation , an organization dedicated to promoting the legacy of blues in Chicago, USA.

“If you don’t know the blues, then I don’t see the point in picking up a guitar and playing rock and roll or any other form of popular music,” Keith Richards in a press release announcing the release.
