Musician shares his reaction.
Guitarist Roland Grapow, who replaced Kai Hansen in Helloween in '89 and stayed with the band for 12 years, said in an interview on Sleaze Roxx radio that he was not invited to the reunion tour, Pumpkins United. The tour will feature Michael Kiske, Kai Hansen, Michael Weikath, Markus Grosskopf, Andi Deris, Sascha Gerstner, and Daniel Löble playing classics from throughout Helloween's career.
“No one invited me ,” Grapow said. “But I heard about this news long before the official announcement.”
When asked about his reaction, the guitarist said that initially he was upset:
“I wasn’t disappointed, but I was upset like a kid who wasn’t invited to a classmate’s party. But after a while I realized I didn’t want to do that. I wouldn’t feel comfortable around those people. And I would have to sacrifice many things that are important and very valuable to me, like Masterplan, my studio work, and my free time with my family. I’ve worked too hard to just put that aside.”
Pumpkins United will be coming to Brazil in October, playing in São Paulo on the 28th and 29th at Espaço das Américas and on the 31st in Porto Alegre at Pepsi On Stage.
