Roger Waters has released his own version of "Time," from Pink Floyd , The Dark Side of the Moon (1973).
The track is part of The Dark Side of the Moon Redux , a reinterpretation of the classic album done solely by Roger Waters. In February, he justified his decision to re-record all the songs:
“I wrote The Dark Side of the Moon ,” he declared to The Daily Telegraph . “Let’s drop this ‘we’ nonsense! Sure, we were a band, there were four of us, we all contributed – but it’s my project and I wrote it.”
The new version of “Time” has a similar feel to Roger Waters’ version of “Money ,” released in July. Both strip away much of Pink Floyd’s psychedelic instrumentation to focus more on Waters’ almost spoken vocals.
In a statement, Roger Waters explained The Dark Side of the Moon Redux , which will be released on October 6th: “The Dark Side of the Moon sounds like an old man’s lament for the human condition. But Dave [ Gilmour ], Rick [ Wright ], Nick [ Mason ] and I were very young when we made [the album], and when you look at the world around us, clearly the message didn’t catch on. That’s why I started considering what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could add to a reimagined version.”
