Known for his political activism, Roger Waters attended an event in support of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange , who is in a maximum-security prison in London for leaking classified military documents in 2006.
According to Louder , Waters reportedly showed a document during his appearance and revealed that Mark Zuckerberg , founder of Facebook , had offered him a multi-million dollar contract to use one of Pink Floyd in one of his advertisements.
“This is a request for the rights to use my song, 'Another Brick in the Wall (Part II),' in the production of a video that will promote Instagram,” said Roger Waters. “It’s a letter from Mark Zuckerberg to me with an offer of a lot, a lot of money. And the response is: 'Go fuck yourself! No way!'”.
Waters went on to say that this is all part of an attempt to make Facebook and Instagram even bigger as a form of censorship of certain content, such as updates on the Julian Assange case, to prevent those posts from reaching the general public.
“I only mention this because it’s a treacherous move by them to take control of absolutely everything,” Waters stated. “So those of us who have any kind of power, and I myself have a little – at least when it comes to controlling the publishing of my music – I’m not going to be a part of this bullshit, Zuckerberg.”
