Roger Waters, at Russia's invitation to the UN, denounces Ukraine for provocations.

The former Pink Floyd member, despite condemning Ukraine, calls for a ceasefire

Roger Waters stated last Wednesday, the 8th, during a meeting of the UN Security Council, that the invasion of Ukraine was illegal, but provoked. The musician had been invited by Russia to speak about the delivery of weapons to the nation led by Volodymyr Zelensky .

“The Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine was illegal and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. Furthermore, the Russian invasion did not happen without provocation, so I also condemn the provocateurs in the strongest possible terms” (via NME ).

Roger, however, called for an end to the conflict and commented that the drive for domination could lead to the end of the world: “In my opinion, the only sensible option is to call for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine – no ifs, buts, or buts. There is not another Ukrainian or Russian life to be lost, not one – they are all precious in my eyes.”.

"Everyone on that road has a red button in their folder. The further we go down that road, the closer our itchy fingers get to the red button, and the closer we get to Armageddon.".

Furthermore, the musician responded to a mocking comment made by an anonymous diplomat who called him Mr. Bean : "For those who don't know, Mr. Bean is an ineffective character on an English television comedy show, so I bet the anonymous diplomat is English."

The story between Roger Waters and the war in Ukraine has also recently gained another chapter. The former Pink Floyd criticized the band for releasing the humanitarian track " Hey Hey Rise Up ". "This encourages the continuation of the war. To associate Pink Floyd with something like this... makes me sad" (via NME ).
