Queen drummer Roger Taylor has revealed his thoughts on lead singer and close friend Freddie Mercury, and what Queen would be like if the singer were still alive.
“I believe that. Me and Freddie… he was my closest friend and we were very, very close. We came together and literally lived in each other’s pockets and clothes!” Taylor stated in an interview with the BBC .
“I’d like to think we’d still be doing things together, whatever it may be,” the drummer emphasizes. “I think Brian May and I, with Adam Lambert , loved doing the show, we seemed to get better and better, and as long as we can still do it, we will.”
Taylor, however, doesn't believe bassist John Deacon would still be in the band if Freddie were still alive, considering he retired in 1997. “I believe we would still be doing things together because it was a great collaboration. I don't know if John Deacon would allow it… of course John wasn't mentally suited for it, the other three were,” Taylor states.
