Deep Purple's bassist spoke about the current rock scene and cited Greta Van Fleet and Rival Sons
In an interview with MB Live Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover commented on the current rock scene. He said: “First of all, there are two types of music – pop and rock. And the two have points where they meet. But it’s a different time now. Bands like Greta Van Fleet and Rival Sons would have been giants in the 70s. But it’s a different world, a world of streaming and likes.”
“But there are a lot of great musicians out there,” he continued, “I listen to music all the time, it’s what I do. I don’t listen to pop radio, I don’t listen to hits and that kind of thing. I listen to a wide variety of music and there are some really good artists. But it’s hard to make a living from it. The only thing you can do to make a living from it, unless you’re Beyoncé , is live music. And there aren’t that many places to play.”
Deep Purple is currently on tour with The Long Goodbye , which began in May 2017. The band's latest album, InFinite , was released in April of the same year.
