Roger Daltrey of The Who commented during a recent interview about the possibility of a new album from the band. "What's the point of releasing new music?" he questioned.
Daltrey sees no reason to release new music, understanding that the public really only wants to hear the band's classics. "What's the point of releasing new music? What's the objective of releasing an album today? We released an album four years ago and it didn't amount to anything," he told NME .
The musician revealed that he understands why people weren't interested in their last album, Who (2019). According to him, fans want to go to shows to hear the classic songs and not to discover new music. “It’s a great album too, but there’s no interest in new music these days. People want to hear old songs. I don’t know why, but that’s the truth.”
However, Daltrey said that this doesn't prevent the band from remaining active, at least with concerts and tours. The musician himself maintains a schedule of solo shows while continuing with The Who.
