The Who: Roger Daltrey admits to being "very, very deaf"

The musician revealed that he relies on lip reading.

Roger Daltrey, frontman of The Who, warned his fans about the importance of wearing ear protection at concerts, after declaring that decades of listening to a lot of music had left him "very, very deaf".

The musician was performing a solo show in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he revealed that he relies on lip reading: “The problem with these things I wear in my ears is that I’m very, very deaf. And I have some advice for all of you – all rock and roll fans – take the damn ear protection to shows.”

Daltrey also mentioned that if he had used ear protection when he was younger, he probably wouldn't have the hearing problems he has today. During that same show, the frontman said he feels lucky to still be able to do his job.

Meanwhile, Daltrey is preparing to perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the famous Royal Albert Hall in London, England, with the supergroup Dr Pepper's Jaded Hearts Club Band.
