Sports journalist and leader of the band The Soundtrackers , Rodrigo Rodrigues , died today, the 28th, at the age of 45, Grupo Globo confirms.
Rodrigues had been diagnosed with COVID-19 15 days prior, but reported having symptoms considered mild, such as loss of taste and smell. However, last Saturday, the 25th, he was admitted to the Unimed-Rio hospital after experiencing headache, vomiting, and dizziness, which were later diagnosed as consequences of cerebral venous thrombosis. On Monday the 27th, the hospital stated that Rodrigo remained in an induced coma.
Rodrigues had been hosting the program Troca de Passes on SportTV since September 2019, and had previously worked on Globo programs such as Globo Esporte in São Paulo. Furthermore, his career, which began in 1995, has taken him to other broadcasters such as SBT, TV Cultura, Band, Rede Vida, ESPN, and Esporte Interativo.
His musical side was a big part of his life, being the leader of the band specializing in film soundtracks, The Soundtrackers, in addition to also having written books. “I started drawing, then moved on to the guitar. And then, when I thought I was going to be an art teacher and play gigs at night, I accidentally auditioned and became a presenter. I haven't stopped since, it's been 25 years… But I never stopped playing, I insist on keeping the band going because one passion feeds the other,” Rodrigues stated during an appearance on Domingão do Faustão .
Wikimetal wishes strength to the family and friends of Rodrigo Rodrigues. Rest in peace.
