Rod Dukes was fired from Exodus in a 20-second phone call.

Lead singer talks about leaving the band

Former Exodus vocalist Rob Dukes, recently replaced by previous vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza, spoke about his departure from the band in an interview on an Australian podcast. According to Dukes, only drummer Tom Hunting contacted him.

“I didn’t get to talk to anyone besides Tom. Tom just called me and said, ‘We’re going with another singer. We’re going with ‘Zet.’ And that was it. It was a 20-second call. That’s all, nothing more ,” Dukes said.

The vocalist explains that he considers himself lucky to have been part of the band's history but says he's not happy with what happened: “I was just an ordinary guy with a job, I got the opportunity and I grabbed it. It became something that lasted for nine years, I'm very grateful for the experience. I'm not happy with their decision, but there's nothing I can do. It's their decision, the band is theirs, I'm just the guy who came in and filled a spot. If this is the path they want to take, so be it.”

Dukes says he will continue working with his other band, Generation Kill. The vocalist participated in 4 Exodus albums, “Shovel Headed Kill Machine” (2005), “The Atrocity Exhibition… Exhibit A” (2007), “Let There Be Blood” (2008) and “Exhibit B: The Human Condition” (2010).
