Joe Hottinger talks about the current rock n' roll scene

“I like that rock is no longer a cultural trend,” says Joe Hottinger

Joe Hottinger and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm spoke about the current rock scene

During an interview, Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of Halestorm spoke about the current state of the rock n' roll scene.

“Whatever’s going on, I like not being just another cultural trend,” Joe said. “We have our thing and it’s going well. We’re making a living from it. And I think that’s cool… People are giving up, but this isn’t a fortress, so it feels more like a club. And, apart from Greta Van Fleet , what other band has emerged with a worldwide impact recently? Imagine Dragons isn’t a rock band. It’s a pop group. Just like Paramore – they’re a pop band.”

Lzzy added: “What we see in the trenches is that there’s a difference between rock and everything else. People who like rock, who go to shows, have a need to do it. It’s like life would end unless they do it. And I love seeing that. Because it’s also all we want to do. We want to be on stage.”

Joe also said that one of the best things they did was "not get into the pop charts and keep that rock n' roll thing going. Because you go up, but then you fall really fast. And that must be a shitty ride."

HALESTORM: Lzzy Hale has a lot to say about being a woman in rock.
