As expected, Rock In Rio has been officially postponed to September 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2022.

The festival announced the decision yesterday, the 4th, in a statement made on the event's social media and to the press, stating, "The changes were based on the uncertainties of the global scenario of the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact that at this time of year, the event's organization would already be entering both the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro and the Bela Vista Park in Lisbon to begin setting up the event.".

The postponement also applied to the Portuguese edition of the event, which was scheduled to take place in Lisbon in June of this year. Now the festival in Portugal will take place on June 18, 19, 25 and 26, 2022.

The president and creator of Rio , Roberto Medina , also announced that negotiations are already underway to assemble the new lineup, and that the announcements of the first acts will take place in the first half of 2021.
