In a statement sent to the press, Rock In Rio 2022 declared that political candidates will not be allowed to go on stage to watch the festival's performances.
As noted by the event organizers, this is the first time in its history that Rock in Rio is taking place during an election period, and therefore it is "subject to the specific laws in force during that period." Check out the official statement:
"For the first time in its 37 years, Rock in Rio will take place during an election period, and is therefore subject to the specific laws in force during that period.".
Therefore, the organization has decided that no candidates for these elections will be allowed on its stages and recommends that all companies, institutions, and artists involved with the event be aware of the Electoral Law.”
Political demonstrations at Lollapalooza
In March, Lollapalooza Brazil was marked by political demonstrations, both from national and international artists. The repercussions at the time led the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to prohibit demonstrations on the last day of the festival, but the Lollapalooza organization refused to allow censorship at the event.
At the time of Lollapalooza, Brazil was not in an election period, as is the case with Rock In Rio, which must respect the electoral laws in force during that period.
