Ronnie James Dio 's Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund raises funds for cancer research and, this year, will be promoting Rock for Ronnie: Year of the Dragon .

The event will take place on May 19th at Warner Center Park in Los Angeles. Eddie Trunk will host, and the group Quiet Riot will perform, along with Lita Ford and other musical artists.

The Dio Cancer Foundation, founded 14 years ago by Wendy Dio , widow of Ronnie James Dio, was created as a tribute to the singer, who died of stomach cancer in May 2010. The institution also promotes other charitable events, such as the Memorial Gala , the Ride For Ronnie , and the Bowl For Ronnie . All of them feature the presence of important rock personalities supporting the cause.

Dio's passion for dragons

This year, the event's theme follows one of Dio's great passions, which, according to Wendy, were dragons:

“This is the ‘Year of the Dragon,’ which only happens every 12 years, and anyone who knew Ronnie knows how much he loved dragons. Because of our wonderful sponsors and supporters, we are able to open this year’s event in this wonderful new venue for all who wish to attend, while also offering a limited number of VIP seats for advance purchase. We hope this special ‘Year of the Dragon’ event will receive donations that will further our charity’s initiatives in cancer education and research for a cure for this terrible disease that has taken so many of our loved ones,” said the widow (via Blabbermouth ).

The event will be open to the public and will feature an area for food trucks, crafts, and live music. Lita Ford and Quiet Riot will perform alongside Dio Disciples , who pay tribute to Ronnie, Jason Charles Miller ( Godhead ), and the All-Star-Band , formed by Eddie Trunk. To confirm attendance, make donations, or reserve a VIP seat, the foundation's official website is already available , which also provides more complete information about previously promoted initiatives.
